After many years of amazing service to the club Mark Dawson is retiring from his position as Chairman, Fixtures Secretary and Referees Secretary.
I’m sure that you are all extremely grateful to Mark for all the help he has provided to the club over the years.
These roles will need to be filled. A breakdown of Mark’s role as Fixtures Sec is set out below as that is the most pressing issue.
We cannot function as a club without somebody who co-ordinates the fixture details.
The club needs a volunteer to take up the role. Can I please urge you to consider putting yourself forward? Without anybody doing this there will be no club as none of the teams will have any fixtures.
Mark will happily discuss the details with you before he sails off into the sunset at the end of this season.
For Home Games
I email the oppositions, refs and Accies skippers with details of the games, including ground location, hospitality location, KO time and whether there is a kit clash. Once all these are confirmed I email Shenley with the match details and also the pub with details of how many teams are returning. The initial confirmations should be done by Monday lunchtime. Shenley and the pub should be contacted by Wednesday
For Away Games
Once oppositions have let me know their match details I relay these to our skippers
I'll also send an availability email to all the skippers so they can see how their numbers are looking early in the week and players can be shifted up and down
The role of referees secretary is a rather simple one. If the league cannot find a referee they ask that we find a club referee. Mark will happily give you the details of the referees we have and, if needed, how to get in touch with them.
Any volunteers for that role are also welcome.
Annual subs are £40 per player. Pay them to your skippers please.
We now have a club web shop where you can get Accies gear including personalised training tops.
We are also now using The Bull in London Colney as our quasi-clubhouse.
Please go there after games if possible as that is where we will be putting on hospitality for opposition teams. I know that it is not convenient for the stations but we tried places in Radlett but they were not keen on getting large numbers of footballers turning up on a Saturday afternoon.
We are now only able to use the portakabins at Shenley.
